10 Positive Morning Affirmations You Can Say When You Wake Up

Saying positive morning affirmations is a great way to start your day on a good note. Here's 10 for you to try...

Do you ever wake up feeling miserable?

“Waking up on the wrong side of the bed” happens to the best of us, and more often than not it puts us on a downward path that leads to a day filled with negativity and frustration.

But, the great news is that there are easy and practical ways to shake off that negative feeling and turn your day around quick, let's get started…

The Strategy That Will Brighten Your Mood Instantly

If only there was a machine that we could plug our brains into and reprogram its thought patterns. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. However, there are ways to rewire the way you think of yourself. The most effective strategy I’ve found is using positive affirmations to combat opposing thoughts.

Let’s say you’re finding yourself thinking something along the lines of, “I hate my life,” or, “Today is going to suck.” Using a positive affirmation like, “I am ready to take on the day no matter what happens,” allows your brain to explore the possibility of having a really good day. Therefore, bringing your mood out of a stubborn and grumpy state and into a curious and positive one.

When you repeatedly use this technique, you begin to reprogram your thought patterns. I found that when I dedicated a tiny window of my day specifically for affirmations, it seamlessly integrated into my routine. For example, I say my affirmations in the morning while getting ready. Once I started practicing around the same time every day, it quickly became an unconscious routine. You can even record yourself saying them to play on loop to help them sink in.

Here are 10 of my favorite affirmations which I enjoy using to start the day…

10 Positive Morning Affirmations:

  1. I am still learning, so it’s okay to make mistakes.
  2. I am well-rested and excited for the day.
  3. Changing my mind is a strength, not a weakness.
  4. I have everything I need to succeed.
  5. I am worthy of investing in myself.
  6. I'm going to have a great day.
  7. Every day I am better than before.
  8. I am capable of overcoming anything.
  9. I will accomplish all of my tasks today.
  10. I love who I am.

Do Affirmations Really Make You Feel Better?

Now, I can only speak from personal experience, but yes, affirmations work. There’s actually a ton of science behind it. Studies prove that positive affirmations help activate parts of the brain that are associated with self-related processing and reward.

The most important thing about affirmations is integrating them into your life in a way that works for you. Maybe writing them out in a journal is your thing, or maybe you like saying them to yourself in the car on your way to work. Whatever the case may be, make the practice easy enough for you to complete every day so you’ll be less likely to fail.

The Bottom Line

Saying positive morning affirmations is a great way to start your day on a good note. When practiced regularly, you can begin reframing your thought patterns and shift into a more positive state.

Choose a few affirmations from the list above, and give yourself an extra 5 minutes in the morning to say them out loud. Start your days on a positive note and set the tone for the rest of your day!Â
